I'm one of those people who needs to take baby steps when transitioning from summer to fall. I don't rush to Starbucks the day Pumpkin Spice Lattes arrive. I don't whip out the Halloween decorations in September. I don't throw on a sweater the first day that the temp dips below 70. And I definitely do not pull out the boots the moment the first colored autumn leaf appears. As you have all heard me say (probably hundreds more times than you wanted to hear it), summer is my soul season, and it's not easy for me to accept fall's arrival. I do enjoy change, however, and I'll admit that getting to add a fall piece or two to my wardrobe in September can be somewhat exciting - if it's done slowly.
And this, my friends, is why I adore the ankle boot. It's like the perfect seasonal footwear progression. It's not a sandal or summertime shoe, but it's not a cool weather boot either. Plus the ankle boot is a classic in my mind - it looks great with just about everything, and it can take an outfit from blah to chic in an instant. Today I've rounded up some of my current favorite ankle boots for fall, as seen in the collage above. The best part is that out of respect for your wallet (you're going to need that extra cash for all of those PSLs, admit it), each of them is priced under $100. Woohoo. I own the Hi Top Back Zip Boots (#2) and wear them at least two or three times a week in the fall. And those black Heeled Ankle Boots (#12) are on my wish list - I think they'd look killer with some light wash distressed jeans and an oversized black or grey button down blouse.
Are you a fan of the ankle boot for fall? Which one here is your favorite?
P.S. Fall fashion is great and everything, but I'd be lying if I wasn't thinking about the bigger picture today, and on every September 11th. So many years have passed, but my heart remains with the memory of those who lost their lives on that awful day, and their families as well. There is lots of big stuff going on in the world right now in general, and although I don't specifically talk about it here, it's always on my mind. Sending out good vibes and positive energy to everyone who could use it - today and everyday.

I love ankle boots! One and two are my favorites here.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of black ankle boots that I have owned well over a decade. Since it never really gets very hot - even in summer - over here I tend to wear them a lot from spring to fall. I hope they last a while longer! If I had to choose, I'd go with #2 :)
ReplyDeleteAnkle booties for the win! I got a fantastic black pair in San Francisco a few years ago, and I just thrifted some that are metallic. I'm irrationally excited. :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, ankle boots - I can never get enough! I probably have ten to twelve pairs in my current collection and yet, looking at your selection, I can see at least two more that immediately made me go, "I need those!" The Zara boots in number 4, especially :) There is nothing an ankle boots can't do, no outfit they can't improve, as far as I'm concerned. And they're comfortable! Which is no easy feat for a shoe that is also stylish.

ReplyDeleteI just bought the pair of Franko Sarto 'Haverly' booties I'd been coveting. I think they are going to serve me well this fall!
Number 4 and 8 are my favorites! All of them are bad ass tho!
ReplyDeleteHave a WONDERFUL weekend!
