Sometimes when I'm in a creative funk but don't have a lot of time, I get in the car and drive by
Anthropologie just to look at their window displays. I'm not kidding. And it works. The folks who work in these stores have a serious knack for styling. (I was lucky to work with the Portland, Oregon Anthro stylist when a last minute project kept me from being present at my Spring '10 collection show during
Portland Fashion Week, and let me tell you, that girl worked some magic).
Here are some of my favorite spring displays from various Anthropologie shop windows.
I hope these images bring inspiration to your day as well!
P.S. You may have noticed that I've fallen waaaay behind on posting images from our
Project 365. We've still, miraculously, kept up with taking a photograph every single day of 2011. I've just been so busy! I plan to set aside a couple of hours in the next few days to get them all uploaded to our
Flickr page, and will do a super-catchup Project 365 post sometime in the next week.
And don't forget to enter our new
giveaway for a chance to win a stunning pair of hand crafted sterling silver earrings!
the upside down planters are genius!!!
ReplyDeleteAnthropologie is to die for, I just can't go near that place. I'm too weak...lol.
ReplyDeleteYour posts get prettier and prettier each day! You go to Anthro for inspiration, I come here!!!!!! (:

p.s. found you through the etsy blog team!
So inspiring, Melissa! There isn't an Anthropologie store in OKC but after seeing these gorgeous displays I wish there was. Thanks for posting this!

Beautiful display windows! My favorite is the first one :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be my dream job! That is what is miss the most about my former shop (I had an antique/vintage store for 10 years) I loved doing displays. I agree those ice cream cones are cool. No Anthropologie anywhere close to me! :(
ReplyDeleteOh thank goodness it isn't just me! I do a little drive-by detour after work when it has been a particularly bad day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments everyone! I wish their prices were a little more affordable (as a very pro-local designer I cringe when I see how much they charge for clothing made inexpensively overseas!), but I have to admit, their merchandise and displays are just incredible.

Anthropologie has the coolest displays I've ever seen!! First time I visited one of their stores was in London and it was very beautiful!! When I was in New York last year I made a visit on one of their stores again but it was much smaller than the one in London. I totally agree that their prices are not affordable, but the way they set their stores are definitely "eye-candy"

ReplyDeleteI wish we had an Anthropologie nearby - I've never been to one!
I love Anthro too! I used to work there for a while and got to see for myself the projects and all the hard work that goes into visual displays. Anthro always knocks it outta the park!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog.. Love your posts. I have chosen you to receive the versatile blogger award.

portland fashion week? is it as cool as walking down that street (i can't remember the name now) where all the cool vintage shows are in portland?
ReplyDeleteI used to work at an Anthropologie in the Visual Design Department, It's just as fun to make them as it is to see them! (and I always loved it when people they said they liked something I had made)
