I thought I'd post some pretty + inspiring words today, maybe because I'm at a loss for them. My sweet fiance Robbie's dear friend Todd passed away suddenly last night, in a motorcycle accident. As much as I try to avoid 'heavy' posts here and instead focus on the sunshine in the world, I also feel that it's important to be real and open with my readers.
Todd left behind a little boy along with countless family members and friends who loved him dearly. Although I only got to spend time with him on a few occasions, he was a huge part of Robbie's life for 20 years. If you have some good thoughts to spare, please send a few out to the loved ones that Todd left behind.

So sorry for your fiance's loss :( So sad :(
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the loss of your friend.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the loss... but you're right! We also should be looking at the bright side and empowering ourselves to move on to the future. Truly inspiring. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI know what this is like having lost family members to car accidents, and there is little comfort when someone is taken away so suddenly. I like the images you posted. It reminds us all to make the most of the time we have with the people who matter. I will be thinking of your fiance and his friend's family today.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about his loss. You chose some beautiful words as a tribute.
ReplyDeleteYour words are comforting. Sometimes you just don’t know what to say when you watch your greatest love going through so much grief and loss. Todd was larger than life and will be missed dearly. When the phone rang late last night we immediately knew it was something awful. I’m sure Robbie felt the same way. All we can do is be strong and be there for them. I think that is why I checked your blog this morning, I knew there would be something lovely and serene to help me through my day.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your & robbie's loss. sometimes things happen in life that just don't make sense.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about this. Your choices of words were inspiring and fitting.
ReplyDeleteoh melissa my heart breaks for you his family and his friends (sigh) :(
ReplyDeleteoh i'm so sorry. sending all my positive thoughts your way
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comments everyone. I'm fine, just aching for Robbie (my fiance). Bubby and Bean was actually born out of a tragedy of my own last summer (something I'll post about eventually). Someone I considered to be my brother (my ex of 11 years and then best friend for 5 more) committed suicide, which was by far the most devastating experience of my life. After a period of mourning, traveling, and soul-searching, I started this blog as a place to find beauty everyday ("there's beauty in the breakdown.") Robbie was my angel during this time, and I only hope I can be his through this awful time.
ReplyDeleteHug your friends and family a little closer today.
Love,
melissa
"An event such as this reminds us of the impermanent nature of our lives. It helps us remember that what's most important is to love each other, to be there for each other, and to treasure each moment we have that we are alive. This is the best that we can do for those who have died: we can live in such a way that they continue, beautifully, in us."
ReplyDeleteDear Melissa, two weeks ago these words were written by Thich Nhat Hanh for his friends in Japan and now I pass them along to you in return for giving me/us your special words each and every day. xo, abbelaine
Thank you for your sweet and inspiring post on what must be a dark day in your home.

Melissa,
ReplyDeletePlease pass it along to your Robbie that my thoughts are with you, him and Todd's family. It's so hard to lose someone so close to you. Your post (once again, great photos to share) brings inspiration to all of us. Life throws unexpected things at us, and getting through it is hard. I'm glad that your fiance has someone like you to help him through these hard times.
