Yep. I just keep going on and on about that little ol' survey I posted last week. You know, the one where I asked what you'd like to see more (and less) of here on Bubby and Bean. But I have to say, it's been really inspiring to read your feedback. It's actually a nice challenge to post about things that my readers have specifically asked for, and so far, I think I've done okay. You asked for more personal posts with pictures I've taken - check. You asked for more DIY tutorials - check. You asked for more of Robbie's series - check. And today's post is for whichever one of you awesome people left this response:
I'd like to know what kind of music you like, and if there are any particular bands or songs that motivate you when you're working. You have such great style and it would be neat to see what music inspires you.
I loved this comment, because music has always been such a huge part of my life, but I haven't shared much of it here outside of Robbie's experiences working for a band. I actually started out my fashion label years ago by selling my clothing at music festivals and concerts! When I'm working on a project or designing a new piece of clothing or art, music is key in terms of getting me motivated. So here are just a few of the songs that have been inspiring and motivating me lately. I hope they do the same for you!
Pssst... I bet you can't guess what my all time favorite band is...
The Grateful Dead. Yep. I grew up dancing around the house listening to them with my dad, and even followed them around for a while when I was very young. They were absolutely amazing live, and I still listen to them when I'm working on a regular basis. The lyrics and music are magical. Truly.
What bands or songs motivate and inspire you?

ReplyDeletelove love love!
Hurray for the Grateful Dead! Thanks to dads every where, there is a generation of children who grew up listening to the dead.
ReplyDeleteI grew up loving the dead, too! I never listen to them anymore, but they were totally IT for me until I was in my mid-late twenties. You're so cute and pretty and awesome. :)
ReplyDeletei love almost all of those songs you posted! music can be such a great inspiration. i am always excited for new songs to spark my mind!

I looooove The Like! That is my go-to band for getting ready in the morning and dancing around like a dancin' fool, hairbrush microphone and all!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to see the songs people like. It let's us know a little bit more about you :)
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys! Love to see some others touched by the Grateful Dead. :) It's funny, because my soon-to-be-husband works for a "jam band," and the Dead (aka my favorite band) was the original "jam band," yet my musical taste is so far in the opposite direction of that genre! It just goes to show that you can never really categorize what you love!

Very cool! I've never heard of any of them, except the Grateful Dead. :)
ReplyDeleteMy all-time favorites are Elton John and The Smiths. Weird combo but they are both so great. I don't know any of your bands--I think that makes me old!
ReplyDeleteJanet, I love the Smiths and Elton John! I'm probably older than you think, I'm just immature. ;) AND my fiance works in the music industry, so I learn about new bands that I probably otherwise wouldn't. And yes, I'm admitting I'm just not that cool. Also - both The Like and The Ugly Suit are now broken up (booo), but I still listen to both of them regularly.

Oh yes....The Grateful Dead! I grew up listening to them as well. My parents were totally dead heads and they took my brother and I to hang out and walk the parking lots before their shows. For my birthday when I was in 5th grade my parents took me to my first Dead concert, it was so cool and such an experience!
ReplyDeleteSeriously great pics! I've listened to that Edward Sharpe song A LOT this summer!
ReplyDeleteHAHA...we started watching The Like my little guy says "Those ladies are all beautiful" and when I asked him why he said "because they're singing". Sigh...a music lover for sure!
