Those of you who regularly read this blog know that I possess an undying love for summertime. I realize that I'm in the minority here, as most bloggers seem to rave about autumn. It's hard not to love autumn, with its colorful leaves and spicy beverages and pretty layered sweaters and all, but I swear something inside of me silently cries as I watch the trees become bare and the days shorter. Once November hits, all traces of pessimism in my heart take over and I begin to view autumn as little more than the gateway to the dark, evil abyss of winter. It's quite dramatic, I know. I cling to summer's last days like a child clings to the final bites of a refreshing summertime popsiscle. Sigh. In all seriousness though, I really do hold a deep appreciation for each of these final days of endless sunshine and bare feet, outdoor concerts and evening gatherings, sundresses and sangria, fresh garden dinners and late night walks...
So in celebration of summer's last hurrah, I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos taken during the amazingly awesome summer of 2012. Photography is fantastic in so many ways, but I think the best part for me is the fact that a quickly snapped photo becomes an instantly infinite memory - a way to carry a moment (or a season) with you for as long as you like. One of the ways I beat the winter blues is by looking through my summertime photos. It allows me to remember that, eventually, summer will make its way back again, all shiny and sun-drenched, ready to melt away the icy snow, bitter cold, and lifelessly grey skies in a single bound.

I'm totally one of those people who thinks summer can't get over fast enough, but your pictures sure do make it look nice :)
ReplyDeleteI am a summer lover too. Fall is really nice and I do love it, but summer will always be my favorite season!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend that feels exactly like you. She pines for summer and grieves it's ending. I love your idea of pulling out summertime pictures in winter to remind you of what's coming. I may have to do a little of that for her! Your pictures are so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I don't have Photoshop, but I may eavesdrop the chat anyways.

These are all soooo pretty and summery!!! I love fall but I get sad when summer ends too, looking through summer pictures in the winter is such a good idea!!
ReplyDeleteI am a summer girl, too! I love all of your pretty photos.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about the summer. It's the most amazing time of year and I find myself taking so many more pictures and spending so much time outside. I've barely blogged at all! Though so many fun things happen in the fall, I hate when the weather starts to get cold and the days are darker. Ugh, just thinking of it now makes me sad, like seriously depressed. If only it could be summer all year round!
ReplyDeleteYou took some beautiful pictures this summer, thanks for sharing them!

Lovely photos! I'm one of those bloggers who can't wait for autumn-haha. But I do really like to look back at summer photos in the dead of winter, when my toes are frozen and there's several inches of snow on the ground and my nose won't stop running. It's all very dramatic at times. But I don't know what I would do if I lived in a place that didn't have all four seasons; it would just be weird. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos! I just can't believe summer is already pretty much gone!

ReplyDeletei have to say - there isn't any one season i love, but rather months. i think august and september are my two favorite months of the year - it's still warm, but the nights get cool, wonderful events happen, and it's just such a great time. these images capture what i love about those two months - so beautiful, i especially love the first one.
ReplyDeletealso i'm totally in love with your blog.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry too, that your precious summer is going away : ( I love your idea of looking through summery pictures to remind you of all its sunshiney glory : ] Maybe you should get a light that simulates sunlight and set it up in your house with some fake palm trees and a pretty sunset painted on the wall--go hang out there when the sky outside is too grey for you to bear. Something like that ; ]
these photos are so gorgeous. i too like to hold onto summer, but this time around i'm ready for the change in seasons. love you sis<3
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you girl! Summer is my favorite season, and it always goes by too quickly. These photos are gorgeous! Definitely a pretty reminder of our favorite season. :)
