I've mentioned before that despite the fact that I prefer neutral color schemes both in my home and my wardrobe, my very favorite color is yellow.  Well there is another bold color that has topped my list for many years - a color that, like yellow, is just about as far from neutral as you can get.  And that color is red.  Red is passionate and strong.  It makes a statement without trying too hard.  It looks gorgeous against white and black, and a pop of it with a grey or beige can be pretty powerful.  (And yes, I am talking about a color like its mission is to save the world, but when you're discussing design, sometimes things can get a little dramatic.)

One of my absolute favorite shades of red is Pantone's Poppy Red, which also happens to be one of their top ten colors for spring 2013.  I personally think it's a nice departure from the traditional pastels and Easter egg tones of the season.  The ten items you see above are some of my favorite current representations of this amazing shade.
