I'm going to start off this post by letting you know that I have endless stories involving a very young Melissa's obsession with the band Guns N' Roses. Don't worry - I'll spare you and keep them to myself for now. I will say that I once forced my poor baby sister to learn and repeat all of the band member's names before I'd allow her to leave my bedroom. Yeah, I know. All these years later, I still play Appetite For Destruction on repeat. I even walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Sweet Child O' Mine. And although my musical taste doesn't include a whole lot of heavy metal bands these days, the original Gn'R is still in my top five. I'd like to thank Sean S., the little skater boy who was not only my first crush, but also my introduction to the band that taught me how to head bang.
I'm admittedly more 'boho' than I am rock n' roll when it comes to getting dressed, but this is one of my go-to early summer festival outfits. The pants are lightweight and great for dancing, and the tee (which I picked up a few years ago at H&M of all places) has a nice loose cut and is made from the softest fabric I've ever felt on a tshirt. The hat keeps the sun out of my eyes (and adds a little color to an otherwise all-black ensemble), and the shoes are the epitome of comfort. I really, really love these shoes you guys. They're the Hi Top Back Zip Boots by Minnetonka, and they're everything I've ever wanted in an ankle boot. I adore the way they look, and they feel like wearing slippers. Double win.
The sun was so close to setting and the sky was so cloud-covered when we snapped these photos that they ended up being terribly grainy. I love this outfit and really wanted to share it, so I just couldn't bring myself to trashing the pictures despite their less-than-stellar quality. I'm just going to pretend it's part of their artistic value, or something.

Any other Gn'R fans in the house?
*raises hand* Me! Me! I love them! When I was working at the college radio station I'd play them ALL the time. Even if they weren't on my log.
ReplyDeleteIt's really cute that you walked down the aisle to an acoustic version. Did people realize what it was?
I think everyone did know what it was (aside from grandparents and older family members). Most of our friends are big music fans like us, and I think it helped that it's a pretty well known song. Love that you played it on your college radio station. :)
DeleteCute summer outfit! Love the booties, and you can carry off wearing a floppy hat! Looks great on you! The b/w shot is amazing :)
ReplyDeleteYes. I was a huge Guns N' Roses fan/was mildly obsessed with their music. Oh the memories! And this is such a fantastic look - gorgeous for a summer festival. Hope your week is off to an awesome start! xo
ReplyDeleteReally cute outfit! The hat makes it even better!
ReplyDeleteLove the tee :) I'm an 80s hair band fan, so of course Gn'R is one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteI love this whole outfit so much, especially the hat and those printed pants! The tshirt is great too, even though I have to admit I've never listened to much Guns N Roses. Maybe it's time to give them a try! I also think the pictures look great, just sayin. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the Minnetonka ankle boots! I'm too old to be a true GnR fan--but I listened to them A LOT thanks to my older kids. So cool that you walked down the aisle to a GnR instrumental.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my all time favorite outfit on you!!!! I love the booties!! My older brother had his room plastered in Guns 'n Roses posters when we were growing up. :-D
