I have a half-written post that I'll be sharing here soon all about my recent experiences transitioning from a go-go-go lifestyle to a (at least somewhat) simpler, calmer one. I talk about my many years of constant traveling, events, career-obsessed adventures and workaholic-fueled fears of missing out. I also talk about how I'm entering a new phase of my life where the things that for so long took top priority no longer do - where success as the ultimate goal is being replaced by learning how to feel content in just "being" (along with how to experience delight in the simplicities of everyday life). Of course, it's much more complicated than that (I am a Capricorn after all), but that's the jist.
Today, I decided to focus on some of the lighter parts of this somewhat heavy subject via some fun little treasures I've been eyeing for summertime. These are the types of things that I find to be the perfect simple pleasures in the warmer, lazier months - goodies that supplement the enjoyment of a time of year when living is naturally easy. Simple summer pleasures, of course, don't need to involve material things. But a little indulgence or present to yourself is a great way to add to the wonderful, at least in my eyes.

Popsicles are the ultimate in simple summer pleasures. Although the Sea Mist, whatever it is, is calling to me as well.

It's a spray for your hair, to create "beachy waves." :)
DeleteI love sprays for beach hair! It really does help me when there's 800% humidity.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to hear about the changes you've made! Is that coming up tomorrow?
Oh it's nothing major or sudden. It's been happening over the past couple of years - things like being less career obsessed, no longer traveling several times a month, etc. Basically I'm becoming old and boring ;).
DeleteMelissa, I believe you are moving in the right direction :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved to the country eight years ago I adopted a simpler lifestyle also!
I mostly eat organic and locally grown food, since I cook everyday. Your picks are great - love those popsicles!
I love the pretty packaging of the chocolate! I am such a sucker for that (both chocolate en pretty packaging). The colour of the polish is very summery. I've never seen Essie polish in Dutch stores, but I heard they are very good. I should be them just for the fun names.
ReplyDeleteThe chocolate and popsicles really caught my eye (I think I'm hungry...LOL). And I love the hat!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your post when it's finished. Transitions, whether big or small, are always something great to acknowledge. I think it's important to sit back and think about these things. You learn things about yourself, and others might learn from it too. It's such a big change when you go from an intense, always-busy lifestyle to a more simple and laid back one. But being able to say that you've lived in both worlds makes you that much more diverse. =0) Diversity is good.
