Time for another 'life lately' update, via good ol' cell phone pictures.  I used to post these monthly, but it's actually been almost three months since the last time I did one.  Things have been so busy lately, with so much activity, but I just haven't been capturing it all like I normally do.  This summer I made a conscious effort to enjoy life more and not focus quite as much on pulling out my phone or camera to chronicle every moment of it.  (Keep in mind that for a normal person, I probably actually chronicled quite a lot of it.  For a blogger, not so much.)

What's new with you?  I usually try to not work at all on the weekends, but I did work this past Sunday so that I could take yesterday off and go see Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity at the Art Institute before it ends later this month. There aren't any pictures in this post because they wouldn't allow photography for this particular exhibit (which was actually pretty nice because I was able to just be in moment with each piece).  It was really, really interesting, and sort of forced me to look at familiar Impressionist paintings in a whole new way.  I never go to the museums here, which is kind of ridiculous since Chicago has some of the best in the world.  Truthfully, the only time I ever do anything touristy is when I have out of town guests.  We're so lucky to have so much awesomeness so close to us, and I'm going to really try to take advantage of it more often.  Other than that and what you see in the photos above, I've just been tying up a lot of work projects, squeezing in lots of hang time with friends before summer slips away, and getting the house ready for baby when I can find the extra time.  And my husband finally got home from the band's (long!) three-week late summer tour the day before yesterday.  I can't tell you how happy this makes me.  What about you?

  1. I used to go to the Art Institute all the time! The last couple of years I've been too busy, but I would make a special trip just for that exhibit. Impressionism is one of my favorite periods.

I also had to laugh at the little guy in the swing. He looks pretty uncertain about the whole thing, haha.

  6. I couldn't live without my pregnancy pillow. It made sleeping so less painful :) Yours has a really pretty cover; mine was plain white.

  7. Haha.. I laughed about your pic of the picks in the laundry because I can totally relate. I always tell Chris, if I had a quarter for every pick I find in the laundry, I could probably buy him the guitar of his dreams. Guess its better than finding gum though ;o)

    1. Thank you! It's actually just plain old brown - I haven't colored it in a long time. :)

    2. Really!?? Oh wow I'm sorry, I thought it was colored since it looks so bright... it's very gorgeous. How do you keep it that healthy-looking??

    4. I think it's just the photo, because I need a cut badly. :) But I'm also pregnant, which makes your hair grow more quickly and makes it thicker. I use John Frieda Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner.
