Two Years Ago Today

Yep, I'm about to get all mushy and cheesy up in here.  Sorry guys!  Today is a special day for me though, and I can't imagine doing a post on this day that didn't recognize it.  Two years ago today, Robbie and I got married.  We had a very laid back, almost 100% DIY wedding at a local nature center, surrounded by our family and friends.  We danced to our favorite music, ate tacos, drank champagne, and celebrated love.

Last year on this day, we were on our very belated honeymoon (and also one-year anniversary) trip in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  For as much as Robbie and I travel, this was the only real trip we've ever taken together that was just for us.  It wasn't for work or with a big group of friends or to visit family or to attend an event like all of our other excursions.  It was just the two of us, in such an incredible place, and it ended up quite possibly being the best trip I've ever taken.  We did so much exploring, ate the best food, and just chilled and hung out together in a stunningly beautiful, peaceful setting.  I can't imagine having done anything that could have been more perfect for us.  I'll never forget it.

This year is much less eventful than the last two in that we're just going to grab dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants and watch a movie on the couch.  Robbie leaves for the beginning of the band's fall tour in a couple of days, so we feel really lucky that he's home and we can spend this day together.  As much as I'd love to be hopping a plane to somewhere magical again this year, a low-key hang out session is our favorite thing to do as a couple.  It's kind of the perfect way to celebrate the two happiest years of our lives (and the fact that on our next anniversary, we'll have a little girl to celebrate with us!).

Hey Robbie!  Thank you for asking me out that night almost seven years ago.  I'm sorry that I wouldn't give you my phone number at first.  Lucky for me, I changed my mind the next day, and you have added to my happiness (exponentially) ever since.  You are the truly the kindest, funniest, raddest, most all-around wonderful person I've ever known.  And I get to spend the rest of my life with you!  Score!  Happy Anniversary babe!
