Back in 2012, a very talented photographer named Kelsey Goodwin submitted a gorgeous warehouse photo shoot to me. I was quite impressed, and went on to feature another of her shoots last year. Today, I'm thrilled to be sharing more of her work (and hoping to make it a more regular thing around here in 2014.) Kelsey shot and complied this particular series- which is focused on redheads and their freckles - as a fundraiser for the MS Society of Canada, which automatically makes it even more rad in my book. As always, I'm smitten with her use of light and color, her attention to raw details, and the eerie, ethereal quality of her editing work.
I asked Kelsey to share a little about this project and the inspiration behind it. "My favourite colour is orange," she said. "It's in my business logo, it's on my car and my boyfriend is orange. For those of you who know me, you know that I have had a long affair with gingers. I especially love photographing freckles so I have been wanting to do a photography exhibit as an ode to this special breed among us." (Love that!)
Kelsey also explained a little about the fundraiser. "Every year, I volunteer at The Mistletoe Gala – a fundraiser for the MS Society of Canada. It's taking a break this year, so I thought I would incorporate a silent auction as part of the exhibit to raise some funds for the cause. I was blown away by the community response, especially at short notice – over 5k in product and services were donated!"
You can view more of Kelsey's amazing work via her website, blog, and Twitter. And stay tuned. As I mentioned above, we plan to showcase her around here more often in the upcoming year.
The pictures are mesmerizing; they suck you right in.
