It's been a little over two months since Essley was born, and although I was lucky to drop the majority of the weight I gained quickly (due to the fact that holy crap do you retain a lot of water when you're pregnant!), I still have about 15 pounds lingering. (I gained almost 55 pounds during my pregnancy. Yikes.) I walked at least two miles almost everyday while I was pregnant, but then the evilest winter there ever was decided to strike, shortly before she was born. It's been impossible to get outside, and my daily exercise routine has severely suffered as a result.
Thankfully, there is one form of indoor physical activity (aside from spontaneous dance parties, of course) that I enjoy: yoga. I started practicing yoga in college, and although my regular practice admittedly dwindled as the years passed, I've continued to enjoy it on occasion. Now that my body could use some toning and some help regaining its center of gravity, I'm making the effort to bring yoga (specifically Vinyasa) back into my regular routine. Let's not forget that yoga is amazing for balancing the mind and spirit too - things that can get a little off-kilter with a young baby in the house.
I have lots of yoga-suitable clothing (leggings and tees, aka my maternity uniform), but that hasn't stopped me from keeping my eye out for fun, unboring new yoga wear. (Hey, if you're going to get serious about something, a new outfit always helps with the motivation, right? Plus all those hours of nursing make for a lot of time to peruse the internet, I'm not gonna lie.) Above you'll find some of my favorite picks. I'd love to be able to sport that chic yoga top from Sweaty Betty. And how about that super cute cropped yoga sweatshirt by Stella McCartney for Adidas? Also, those moon-themed pants from Teeki are made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, which is beyond cool in my opinion.
What is your favorite brand for yoga wear? Or if you're not a yoga fan, do you have suggestions of other good indoor exercises to help tone up postpartum that don't involve excessive cardio (not my thing)?
I love that coral top...never would have guessed it was yoga wear! And that shirt in #6 looks so comfy!
ReplyDeleteI desperately need to get back to a exercise regime. It's really bad how little exercise I do! So unhealthy!! Maybe the trick is to pick up some cute work-out wear. These would absolutely fit the bill. All the best with your goals!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove this post! I am always looking for trendier athletic wear!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I desperately need to start exercising again too. I had started, but then winter ruined everything haha. Oh winter. I just ordered some new sneakers (really trainers but I call everything sneakers) in the hopes that I can just usher spring in now. I feel so out of shape, but I guess that happens when you spend several months in the fetal position under 3 layers of blanket. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love all of these picks...Now I just have to get in shape to look good in some of these outfits. lol
ReplyDeleteLove that Sweet Retreat Yoga Tee, so cute! A little shopping is always motivational...
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a big pilates fan. Love that coral top and the phases of the moon pants!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Sweaty Betty, I have never seen them before? Did you know Anthropologie has workout clothes now. The pants aren't great but the bras and tops are really cute.

I didn't know! Heading over to check it out now.
DeleteLove all of these! They definitely don't look like traditional yoga clothes and I like that. I've been really bad with working out this year so far, yoga sounds like a good idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments everybody! Three cheers for cute yoga gear!
ReplyDeleteThose yoga clothes definitely aren't boring! I've seen a lot of coral lately. I actually prefer doing yoga in the comfort of my home. Good luck with getting back into your routine :)
