Here's a riddle for you: what's the one thing we never did in our basement during the big remodel? If you said "replace your giant black hole of a coffee table" put a gold star next to your name because you're a winner! I'm not sure what happened with that. We had every intention of buying or making a new one, but it just kind of... fell off the list and then we moved on to other things. It's the one that got away, you guys. (Metaphorically speaking, because it didn't actually get away from us at all and that's the problem.)
Ideally, I'd like to bust out some power tools and make one, but since we're notorious for taking on too many things at once, it's likely that we'll end up buying one instead. And that's totally fine because there's some major eye candy to be had in the coffee table department. I did some searching and put together a group of stuff that would not only work in our house, but would actually look great in most places--just in case you're in the market for a new one, too. It's hard to go wrong with any of these.
My favorites here are numbers one and two--midcentury modern for life!--but I honestly love all of them. The cool metal frames on three and four are everywhere right now; it's a good trend to try on furniture because it's more subtle than, say, chevrons and will transition well as styles keep changing. Five and six have the bonus of being cute AND having extra storage. I wouldn't mind having a designated spot for stashing coasters and our 400 remotes...
It would be silly of me to say goodbye without a gratuitous shot of a coffee table in action, so here we go:

Yep. That one's a keeper.
Which of these tables is your favorite? Is there a project that you've accidentally left undone for a while? Have you ever tried to make a coffee table yourself? - Paige
Thank you Paige for sharing your top coffee table picks with us today. #3 would look pretty fine in my living room, in case anyone is wondering what I want for Christmas or anything. In addition to writing for Bubby and Bean as our Home Contributor, Paige is an Interior Designer (check out her biz, The Room Kit), and also blogs over at Little Nostalgia. We sold our way too large glass coffee table last year, but have yet to replace it! Currently two little stools act as "tables". I'm partial to the white one :)
ReplyDeleteLove the print on the wall. Can I ask where you got it
ReplyDeleteIt's actually an image from West Elm. You can click on the link below the picture to get go their website. :)
DeleteThat last one would be perfect in my living room!
ReplyDeleteI like #1, because rounded tables are cool.
ReplyDeleteGotta give it to Paige - she's so great at picking out awesome stuff!
Aww, thanks! I'm glad you've been liking my posts! :-)
DeleteI want all of these!
ReplyDeleteI love 5 and 6 with drawers and storage below.
ReplyDeleteI still don't have siding on my addition yet! So yeah...we kind of dropped the ball there!
Oh, the endless coffee table debate. We've had several over the years, but my husband and I just don't have the same taste in coffee tables so in the end, one of us is always unsatisfied. Someday, we'll have to find one that works for both of us. Persoanlly, I think that one from West Elm would suit quite nicely... if I ahd the rest of the room to go with it, that it ;)

Thumbs up for 2 and 3!
