Love it or hate it, Valentine's Day is two weeks away from tomorrow. And while I haven't technically celebrated on the day itself in years (Robbie is always on the road with the band on February 14th, and we never do anything more than exchanging cards regardless), as I've said before, a day all about love is alright by me. Now that we have Essley, I'm also starting to remember how much I adored Valentine's Day as a kid. Decorating shoe boxes to hold cards for school, receiving gloriously gaudy heart shaped boxes of chocolates from my dad, and getting to don myself in head-to-toe red and pink were all things I looked forward to pretty much as soon as the Christmas tree was taken down. This will be Essley's second Valentine's Day, and although she doesn't quite get it yet, I'm still excited to dress her in red and make Valentine crafts together to give to our family. (Scribbled crayon on a paper heart totally counts as a craft project, right?)

Speaking of crafts, last year I did a 10 Great that featured some of my favorite Valentine's Day DIY projects. This time around, I'm paying tribute to the edible aspects of the holiday. So despite the fact that I have (1) vowed to limit the sweets and focus on healthier alternatives for myself, and (2) now officially made the subjects of four 10 Greats in a row something having to do with food, here I am, sharing Valentine's Day themed recipes. Whether or not I'll actually make any of these for the holiday itself remains to be seen, but there's no doubting that they all look absolutely amazing. And really, heart-shaped food makes for a fun treat any time of the year.

Do you make any special foods or treats for Valentine's Day?
