Those of you who are long-time readers probably remember my 'Friday is for Favorites' series. This series consisted of weekly roundups of things I happened to be loving that particular week, with no theme or common thread - just things that caught my eye or I was coveting. It's been a long, long time since the last one. Two years, if we're counting. And although I don't plan on bringing the series back (not because I didn't like it, but because it simply ran its course), I thought it would be fun to revisit the premise behind it today (although in a much different format), and share a few links to some of my favorite finds this week.
Links I love, right now:
If someone asked me for a perfect example of my dream style when it comes to interiors, I'd give them this link. The 'after' of this house is beyond gorgeous. (The image you see above is from this home, via Amber Interiors. Drooling.)
You've been cutting avocados wrong your whole life.
Give me some denim cut-offs and this top and I'm set for summer clothes.
For my fellow Windy City area friends, I present the 10 best road trips from Chicago you can do before lunch. Robbie, Essley, and I are going on a short family getaway to Lake Geneva for a couple of days next week (it's become a tradition) and I can't wait.
This comic will change the way you look at privilege.
My mouth is watering over these vegan zucchini bread cookies that my pal Jessica made. (PS I was recently a guest on her podcast, and it was rad. And heavy. I'll share a link when it's live on iTunes.)
Interesting article on calculating the ages of old growth redwood trees in Muir Woods. (The redwoods are my favorite place on earth by the way. I'm in a wedding in northern California in August and am counting down the days. I haven't been since 2012.)
This maxi dress is perfection.
I absolutely love what righteous babe Laverne Cox has to say about Caitlyn Jenner, who looks beautiful (and more importantly, happy) on the cover of the new Vanity Fair.
DIY potted cactus macarons you guys. So many blogger trends in every bite. Who wants to come over and make them with me?
I freaking love my alma mater. Why didn't we do this when I graduated?!
I'll admit that Essley is a pretty easy toddler (knock on wood) during the days. At night, she turns into a terror, determined to rid me of any chance at sleep for the rest of eternity. I'm fairly certain that the perfect toddler doesn't exist, although apparently some parents seem to think they do, as this funny piece on the Myth of the Perfect Toddler demonstrates.
I wish I'd been as badass as Caitlyn Cannon when I was a senior in high school.
Your state's most popular food.
I have one (super cheap) eye shadow brush, and a lot of times I just use my finger (yeah, I know). Love these tips on the right ways to use eye makeup brushes.
This artist paints colorful tile patterns on the floors of abandoned buildings. Incredible.
What happened when wolves were brought to Yellowstone. Nature blows my mind.
Later, thongs. Granny panties are the new 'it' underwear.
I'm super stoked for this weekend because it's the first one of June, my favorite month of the year. (Truthfully, July gets an equal amount of my affection, but June gets me extra pumped because it's the first month of summer.) My sister, her husband, and their dog (my furry niece) are up from Indianapolis and staying with us for a few days, and Robbie gets back into town tomorrow, so we have all kinds of fun stuff planned. Yesterday we took Essley to Brookfield Zoo, which was basically her favorite thing ever (proof can be found here). I am always wary of zoos because so many of them are simply not proper living conditions for wild animals, but this one is an exception for me. After I'm done with work today, we're going park hopping and to dinner, and then tomorrow morning we're hitting up a local flea market. Whatever your plans, I hope your weekend is great. Until then, enjoy your Friday (and enjoy checking out these links).

I HAVE been cutting avocados wrong! And that food map is pretty funny. I like that "bottle service" is the #1 food choice in Nevada. Haaaaa.

ReplyDeleteI love those tiles! I would be happy as a bird with a french fry, walking into something like that :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd making zucchini bread has been on my to do list for a while, I should really make that happen...
I've just looked at the avocado link and looks like I've been doing it the RIGHT way :)
ReplyDeleteWolves are magnificent creatures. I love watching them run in pack. Of course all the other animals are wonderful too!
Sounds like a great weekend planned!
ReplyDeleteI'm now craving Potato Wedges (it must be true about Iowa!)
And I love the teens quote in her yearbook :)
