It's month #2 of 2016's 'What I'm Wearing Now' series, and also my first full month of not being pregnant since last April. Weird. I'm 6 weeks postpartum right now and have lost a little over 30 pounds of my pregnancy weight, which leaves me with a little under 20 still to lose. (I gained about 50 pounds with both of my babies.) I'm convinced that at least 10 of those pounds are in my boobs, which go from a small B to a large D when I'm pregnant and nursing - and as much as I used to wish for a larger chest, I'll just say that these days, I miss my small bust with every ounce of my soul and leave it at that. And while I am by no means body obsessed, especially after having a baby, I'm really stoked to have finally gotten the okay to start exercising again at my doctor appointment yesterday. I feel the best mentally and emotionally when I'm working out regularly (even if it's just walking and yoga) and have some muscle tone, which I completely lack right now. I am also getting pretty tired of being in the post-baby "in between" stage, where my pregnancy clothes are too big and my regular wardrobe is too small. It's just not practical, man.
As you can see, I'm still living in leggings most of the time - both because that's what fits, and because when you're sleep deprived and taking care of two small children, one of which spews baby vomit on you on the regs, you tend to want to dress comfortably and in pieces that can be thrown in the washer every. single. day. This is the same reason that I'm also still sporting lots of simple black tees (which I'm attempting to semi dress up via printed cardigans and knit kimonos). Like last month, I've also being wearing shirt dresses, which I've discovered are the perfect cut for a post-pregnancy body, and also allow me to feel somewhat put together, which is really nice. I'm also enjoying getting back into wearing accessories and carrying fun bags - like the super cute Lily Tote above, which is actually a diaper bag. Pretty sweet, right?
I'll be spending the last few days of this month and first week of March in Arizona, where it's currently in the high 80s (thank you universe), so I'm guessing that next month's edition will be an odd combination of extreme warm and cold weather clothes. I'll take what I can get when it comes to chances to wear spring and summer attire. Anything that's a step closer to sundresses and cut-offs is pretty great in my book.
What have you been wearing this month?

What I'm Wearing Now
I literally almost bought that black H&M t-shirt last night after a meeting! I ended up getting a blouse with lizards on it instead, which sounds weird, but it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you can get back to your exercise routine again! We've had another dip in temperatures so unfortunately I'm still wearing sweaters. I can't wait for spring!
ReplyDeleteIt's already been so much fun to see these posts this year because your style really is evolving post-pregnancy (although I imagine you must feel like there's still a long way to go - hurray for getting the okay to exercise again!) And of course you know how passionate I feel about shirt dresses, so I can't do anything but encourage you to wear them as much as you can - they work for everything :)
