Summertime Lemon Lime Vodka Sparklers

This post brought to you by CH Distillery. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Bubby and Bean.

We may still technically be a month away from summer, but my mind is already on summertime cocktails. There isn't much more satisfying on a hot Saturday afternoon than sitting outside with a refreshing boozy beverage, just taking in the sunshine and flowers and blue sky and overall goodness of what I consider to be the best time of the year. I can't wait.

Today I'm going to share one of my favorite summertime cocktails that I came up with when I was in a mood for a lightly sweet citrus treat but didn't feel like running to the store. I almost always have lemons and limes in the house, along with sparkling water and CH Vodka from CH Distillery Spirits, and the only other ingredient you need is a little sugar. You guys already know how much I love citrus cocktails from various champagne and prosecco recipes I've posted, but this is my favorite for when you're in the mood for something less sweet with a little more bite.

This recipe makes 4 cocktails.

INGREDIENTS
6 ounces CH Vodka (1.5 ounces per glass)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1-2 lemons + 1-2 limes (enough for about 1/2 cup of juice total)
lemon or lime sparkling water (unsweetened)
ice
lemons or limes (for garnish)
course salt for rim (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to boil and stir until dissolved. Allow the syrup to cool, then chill in the refrigerator.

Juice your lemons and limes, making sure to remove all seeds, then combine the juice with the chilled syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add the vodka and some ice cubes, and shake.

Use lemon or lime juice to wet the rims of 4 glasses and dip each rim into the course salt. (You can also use course sugar, but I like the margarita-style bite of the salt.) Add a few ice cubes to each glass, then pour your mixture equally into each glass. Top with sparkling water and garnish with lime and lemon slices. Delicious!

This cocktail is the ultimate summertime go-to beverage. It's not overly sweet, and the lemon, lime, and CH Vodka give it the perfect kick.  I love CH Vodka because it's got a clean, smooth taste, with a light sweetness and peppery finish. And it's distilled right here in Chicago from Illinois winter wheat and rye at the CH Distillery. I also love it in Bloody Mary's and even just mixed with sparkling water over ice.

For those of you in the are or who plan on visiting, CH Distillery Events is a destination itself - for tours, private events, cocktails and dinner. Located at 564 West Randolph Street, it's on my must-visit list for this summer. Or if you'd just prefer to pick up a bottle for your own home, CH is available at numerous restaurants, bars and retail stores in the Chicagoland area. They also produce several other spirits for those of you who aren't Vodka people, including Gin, Rum, Bourbon, Amaro, Limoncello and flavored Brandies. Yum!

  1. Yum! In Summer I love a good Mojito, Pina Colada, anything sweet, light and fruity really :)

  2. After a period of a little too much fun with vodka in my early 20s, I haven't gone anywhere near it - and I don't miss it. But this cocktail does sound lovely and I think I'm going to take some inspiration from it for a new summer wine spritzer recipe I'm been pondering for the past few weeks :)

  4. Citrus drinks are the best in the summer! I've been enjoying Shock Top's new lemon shandy flavor.
And my brother-in-law has been drinking cucumber vodka with diet sprite...a great refreshing summer drink!
