It's been quite a while since I've taken a break from the lifestyle/parenting/design/food posts and just said hello. Even though my Instagram has been my "casual hello" platform for years now, I've vowed never to quit stopping in here to just say hi, old school blogging style.
So hi! Happy holidays! As with everyone this time of year, life feels equal parts magical and overwhelming around here. We leave in a week for Mexico, so I've been working very late nights and weekends to get as much as possible done for work before I go. I've also been trying to get holiday things done in advance (which I never do), and plan a birthday party for Essley for a few days after we get back, among countless other things. I feel very lucky to be this kind of busy, but I'm also very grateful we get a little break for our trip. Robbie will be working while we're there, and I have work to do down there too, but it's going to be, like, 80 degrees, man. I'd work in that kind of weather and sunshine any day.
The photo you see above was taken last weekend and was a major Santa visit success story for us. It took 5 years to get a Santa picture where both kids were happy rather than hesitant (or worse). (See below for last year's photo.) Thinking about how excited the kids were to sit on his lap and talk to him makes me teary eyed. (Which is likely due to lack of sleep but whatever, it was a precious moment.)
I hope your holiday season has been wonderful and full of magic (with limited stress) so far. And if you like these simple updates, you can always get plenty of them over on my IG.
