Despite the widespread knowledge that excessive sunlight exposure is dangerous to your skin, I tend to focus on protecting my kids in the summertime and ignoring myself. I mean, I grew up in the 80s and 90s, when we sat in our front yards doused in baby oil for hours in pursuit of the perfect tan, so being a sun worshipper is sort of engrained in me. This summer though, I'm going to really make the effort to always wear sunscreen, and to take things a step further and make sure my scalp and face are also protected.
