I've been meaning to share this project here for months. If you follow me on Instagram, you've definitely seen it before, but I felt it deserved its own post here. This is our front room (also called a 'frunchroom' here in Chicago where we're apparently all weirdos), which the first thing you see when entering our house. And while we did cover the original beigey-brown color with white, it just never quite felt like "us."
We decided we needed a big change and opted to give the wall some texture with panels. We started by painting the accent wall with one of Benjamin Moore's colors of the year, Mysterious. We then gathered some MDF boards and spent several days measuring, cutting, and nailing. Initially we were only going to place three horizontal boards to create rectangles, but played around and opted for four. (They're still rectangles, but look like squares from some angles, which I love.)
My only regret is not getting more "before" pictures. If you check out the Instagram reel I made showcasing the project though, it not only shows videos of before and after, but also the steps along the way.
We ended up spending less than $300 for supplies (paint, boards, brushes, etc.) and spent a few hours a day for about a week.
Before
AfterI couldn't be happier with the finished product and how inspired I feel every time I open the front door and see our new wall. Again, make sure to check out the video of the process here!
